Privacy policy

How information is handled when you browse RateThailand, save guides or prepare a business listing.

Last updated:

Who this policy covers

RateThailand.com is operated by RateThailand, based in Thailand.

Email info@ratethailand.com for general enquiries, corrections, privacy matters or legal and takedown requests. For a content-related request, include the relevant page URL and a clear explanation of the issue.

Information you provide

You can browse without creating an account. Search terms and destination selections are processed in your browser; the current search feature does not send them to a search service.

The business-listing form creates a downloadable file on your device. Your business name, email, category and destination are not submitted to RateThailand by that form. You control the downloaded file and can delete it.

If you email us, the message, your contact details and any supporting material will be used to understand and respond to your enquiry, request or complaint. Avoid sending passwords, payment-card details, medical records or unnecessary identity documents.

Saved guides, cookies and device storage

Saved guides are stored in your browser’s local storage under ratethailand-saved and ratethailand-saved-articles. This contains guide identifiers, not an account profile, and remains on that browser until removed. It does not sync between devices.

The current site does not include advertising trackers, analytics scripts or an account system. It does not set first-party cookies through its application code. Local storage is used for the saved-guide feature described above.

You can remove individual saved guides with their bookmark buttons, clear this site’s data in your browser settings, or use the button below. This clears saved-guide preferences on this browser only.

Website delivery and external services

Your browser sends technical information, such as your IP address, browser details and the requested URL, to the server delivering a website. Hosting providers may process access and security logs to deliver and protect the service. The production host and its log-retention settings will be identified here when configured.

We load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. Loading a page therefore connects your browser to Google’s font servers, which receive technical request information. See Google Fonts’ privacy information.

Photographs and the Google icon are served from this website. The “preferred source” link opens Google only when selected; Google then handles the interaction under its own policies. Other external links are governed by the destination’s privacy practices.

Why information is used

Information is used to deliver requested website features, maintain security, answer correspondence, investigate reports and meet applicable legal obligations. Where data protection law requires a lawful basis, the relevant basis may be our legitimate interests in running and protecting the service or responding to enquiries, or compliance with a legal obligation. Any feature requiring consent will request it before the relevant processing begins.

The current site does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Sharing and international processing

Where necessary, correspondence may be handled by email or hosting providers acting for the operator, or shared with professional advisers or authorities where legally required. For content complaints, we may share the substance of a report with a relevant contributor or rights holder where needed to investigate it, while limiting unnecessary personal information.

External providers may process information in other countries. Any required safeguards depend on the operator, provider and applicable law; production hosting and correspondence providers must be identified before those services are put into use.

How long information is kept

Saved-guide identifiers remain on your device until you clear them. Downloaded listing drafts remain wherever you save them. RateThailand does not receive either through these features.

Correspondence, if received, is kept only as long as needed to handle the matter and any associated dispute or legal obligation, then deleted or anonymised. The nature of the request, outstanding follow-up and applicable record-keeping requirements determine that period. Server-log retention depends on the hosting provider and configuration described above.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis. Some rights have exceptions. We may need proportionate information to verify a request; please do not send identity documents unless requested.

Email info@ratethailand.com for general enquiries, corrections, privacy matters or legal and takedown requests. For a content-related request, include the relevant page URL and a clear explanation of the issue.

You may also complain to the data protection authority that applies to your circumstances. This policy does not restrict those rights.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when website features or information-handling practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
